Peer Mentor Program

Helping students successfully transition to WOU since 2001

 

The WOU Peer Mentor Program is jointly sponsored by the SHCC & University Housing. Find the mentors at their office in the RSC, Sunday-Thursday (hours vary)!

Mission Statement:

The WOU Peer Mentor Program is designed to provide students with peers that act as positive role models in promoting healthy lifestyles, assist in the transition to college, and provide services to peers and the community.

 

Description of Peer Mentors:

  • A diverse group of volunteer students who have been at WOU for at least one year.
  • Complete wellness focus programs within the Residence Halls communities once a term
  • Provide wellness programs each term for all students at Western Oregon University
  • Complete an evening office hour in the Peer Mentor Office  or in assigned halls where we are available to students.
  • Develop connections and relationships with Freshmen within the Residence Halls.
  • Complete an evening office hour in the Peer Mentor Office where we are available to students.

 

Traditional Programs:

  • Freshmen Bar
  • Safe Spring Break
  • Get Lei’d Luau

Application Process:

February 4th: Peer Mentor Applications out

February 15th: Applications Due by 3:00 PM

February 25th– March 7th: Peer Mentor Interviews

March 11th: Decisions made, applicants informed
