Incoming Students for 2015-16

 

Presidential 15-16 Scholarship (Graduating High School Seniors Only)

Awards are renewable for up to four years and amounts vary from $1,500 to $5,500 per year (determined by GPA and ACT or SAT score)

  • Minimum 3.40 High School GPA

  • Minimum 21 ACT or 1000 SAT composite (combined critical reading and math sections)

  • 2015 High School Graduates must complete a minimum of three college preparatory units with a C- or better in their senior year

  • Recipients at all award levels are eligible to receive a reward of $250 the following academic year if they complete 45 credits with a 3.0 GPA at WOU

Provost Transfer Scholarship (Transfer Students Only)

  • Awarded to new transfer students

  • Minimum 3.5 transferable GPA

  • Amount is $1,500 per year

  • Scholarships are renewable for a total of two years

Deadline -- February 27, 2015

International Baccalaureate Scholarship

  • Awarded to incoming freshman completing full international baccalaureate diploma

  • Minimum score 30 or higher

  • Amount is $2,500 per year

  • Scholarships are renewable for a total of four years

Diversity Commitment Scholarship

At Western Oregon University, we believe a diverse campus community improves the overall quality of education our students receive by offering a mix of experiences, opinions, and viewpoints.  We are committed to recognizing and supporting outstanding students from diverse cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds, with unique talents, interests, and life experiences.

  • Awarded to high school senior and new transfer students

  • Scholarships are $4,000 per year

  • Renewable for up to four years for new freshmen and up to two years for transfer students

ASPIRE High School Partnership Award

$500 nonrenewable scholarship awarded to selected incoming freshman nominated by their high school ASPIRE program. Each ASPIRE program is limited to 2 nominations each year.

  • $500 nonrenewable scholarship
  • Must register and complete at least 12 credits per term
  • Must be nominated by qualifying ASPIRE coordinator

WOU Foundation Scholarships

Complete the WOU General Scholarship Application to be considered for over 100 different WOU scholarship programs, including scholarships from institutional funds and private donors through the WOU Foundation.  Selection criteria vary by scholarship, but generally include academic merit, extracurricular activities, personal essays, and overall quality of application.  Financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), is an additional factor for some scholarships.


Application deadlines have passed

  • Incoming Student Application deadline is February 27, 2015 5:00pm

  • Current Student Application deadline is April 15, 2015 5:00pm

Note: Students are encouraged to begin the scholarship application prior to the deadline to allow time for processing and potential technical difficulties. The availability for last-minute technical assistance may not make it possible for students applying only days or hours before the deadline to submit a quality scholarship application.

Athletic Scholarships

Western Oregon University awards athletic scholarships to exceptional student athletes in all of the official WOU sports within NCAA II guidelines.  For more information regarding athletic scholarships, contact the Department of Athletics at (503) 838-8252 or the head coach of the sport.
