Natural Science Club
Educational Activities Group
| I. Name of the club shall be:Natural Science Club |
| II. Purpose of the Natural Science Club shall be to provide opportunities for education and social interaction among WOU faculty, members of the scientific community, and students interested in the sciences. |
| III. Membership: Participation shall be open to all students wishing to fulfill the club's purpose, regardless of handicap, race, religion, or belief. Although wheelchair mobility within the Natural Science Building is facilitated, such access on field trips will require special arrangements. The Natural Science Club will offer a variety of field trip opportunities and guest speaker engagements. Regular field trips include an extended trip to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge (OR). Other opportunities may include local habitats in addition to areas such as Mt. St. Helens, Yellowstone, Crater Lake, and Death Valley National Park. Students study natural history and biological systems and practice field methods. Expenses are covered by both club fundraising and out-of-pocket moneys. Guest speakers shall be invited to club functions and will comprise members of the scientific community (e.g. professional scientists from a variety of disciplines). Our goal is to inform students about career options and create professional liaisons with scientists outside of WOU. All voting members and elected officials of the NSC-EAG shall be students of WOU in good academic standing. |
| IV. Club Officers: Club officers include the "President" and "Vice-President". Duties and Powers - Individuals holdings these positions shall be responsible for organizing and chairing meetings, delegating responsibilities to other members, and making final decisions. Requirements - These elected members must attend all meetings of the NSC-EAG. The elected members may designate alternate members to attend ASWOU meetings in their absence. Selection and Removal Club officers will be nominated by club members and elected to the position of "President" or "Vice-President" by a majority vote NSC-EAG. Club officers may be removed from office by a two-thirds vote of members present at a pre-announced meeting. Public notice of any such meeting must be at least two weeks prior to the meeting date. Term of Office Club officers will hold their respective position for one academic year. Elections will be held during the last four weeks of spring quarter for the upcoming academic year. |
| V. Dues: none. |
| VI. Meetings: Meeting dates will be decided by the Club officers. Public Notice of any meeting will be posted at least one week prior to the meeting date. |

VII. Amending the Constitution: Approval of changes to the NSC is by a two-thirds vote of members present at any given meeting. Proposed amendments must be distributed two weeks prior to a vote. |
| VIII. Dissolution: The dissolution of the NSC-EAG shall be made by a two-thirds vote majority of all members present. Elected members will be responsible for settling all outstanding debts and closure of all accounts held by the club. |
