2005 Experiment
Physics Feasibility Test of a Zero-Criticality Fluidized Bed Space Reactor

Previous Research

Human space flight to Mars is dependent on the development of nuclear power for propulsion and power purposes. Our research for the 2005 RGSFOP was focused on testing the feasibility of a centripetally fluidized bed gas-core reactor. This two-phase test will generate data necessary to correlate previous experiments with modified neutron interaction and heat transfer models of the new core design. For more information, please peruse the Project Overview document or feel free to contact us with questions.
