2010-2011 TRIP INFORMATION:
WINTER BREAK:
Our international Service Learning trip is currently serving in Vietnam. They have had the opportunity to visit an Orphanage, a Nuns compound, a pre-school, and a leper village. They will be meeting with some people from the world bank to talk about Vietnam education as well. The team leader is Krislyn Nance accompanied by advisors Mark Girod, and Hank Bersani. This team works directly with the Forgotten People Foundation.
The first Alternative Break trip is currently serving YouthCare in Seattle, Washington. They have been able to help out at the shelter, cleaning and organizing their facilities, serving lunch to the youth, and passing out Christmas toys to youth. They also are partnering with Operation Sack Lunch to serve lunch to the homeless population. The team leader is Lindsey King accompanied by advisors, Charisse Jolliff and Kim Lamborn.
Our second Alternative Break trip is currently serving Sunshine Sanctuary in Los Molinos, California. They have also had the opportunity to clean out and organize their facilities, plan and teach crafts to children, while also learning how to groom, feed and lead horses.The team leaders are Shannon Grosse and Crystal Hu, accompanied by advisors Debbie Diehm and Melissa Ineck.
SPRING BREAK: This trip will be serving Habitat for Humanity and Homeless solutions for families in the Portland, Oregon area. You will be working during the day on site, building for habitat and helping a family homeless shelter in the evenings
Poverello Food Shelter & AniMeals Animal Food Bank: The Poverello Food Shelter is in need for our volunteers to help minimize the hunger in the state of Montana. During this trip we will also be spending time with those who need it the most by volunteering at AniMeals Animal Food Bank. We will not only focus on the people of Montana, but we will be pet friendly as we provide our service for the community.
Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge: You will be building a house for one of the many families who do not have a home around the United States. This will be a five day project and you will work with a team of 6-7. There is a possibility the project might not be finished within those days. We will be focusing on a family in need in the Sacremento, CA area.
SUMMER BREAK:
Orphans Foundation Fund is an organization that endeavors to protect the most valuable members of our societies and stop the downward spiral of poverty, disease and illiteracy. O.F.F fosters a dignified and sheltered life for children who have fallen victim to the scourge of destitution, solitude and are at the risk of HIV/AIDS.
