Alternative Break Service Trips
2012 Winter Focus Areas for AB Trips:
Focus Area: Homeless Youth – Week of December 9th-15th. Join our Alternative Break team this winter break! As a group we will travel to volunteer and help the homeless youth. We will go on a week-long trip that will allow us to make a difference in the lives of those who need help and support the most. The majority of our service learning will be done in homeless shelters that are already doing a wonderful job of supporting those in need. Our goal on this trip is to make a positive impact on others, while also learning and growing as individuals.
Focus Area: Children – Week of December 9th-15th. We will be working with organizations that are providing service to children/youth with autism. Our goal would to be help organizations in whatever way possible to provide better service for the needed. We also hope to understand autism in a proper way and try to make the lives of children/youth with autism better.
Focus Area: HIV/Aids – Week of December 9th-15th. Many of the 1.1 million people living with HIV in the U.S. became infected when they were teenagers. So come and make a difference in a community by volunteering a week of your break and help prevent and support those with HIV/ AIDS by raising awareness along with other WOU students.
Spring Teams will begin to form upon returning to campus in Winter Term.
