The Judicial Administration leads and is responsible for the Judicial Board, who interprets the ASWOU Constitution and oversees the ASWOU elections.

 

Ruling 11/30/2009

This is to report the official 2009-2010 Judicial Board rulings, resulting for the November 30th, 2009 meeting. These rulings are based upon their interpretation of the constitution.

In order for a Student Concern Report to be considered valid the Student Concern Report form must have a name and email for use of contact information.

The members of the Judicial Board voted: 4 Yes, 0 No, 0 Abstaining: The ruling passes 4-0-0.

Ruling 11/11/2009

This is to report the official 2009-2010 Judicial Board rulings, resulting for the November 11th, 2009 meeting. These rulings are based upon their interpretation of the constitution.

The statement by the ASWOU President of "not reaching my desk on time," is found to be the same as inaction. After inaction on a bill or resolution by the ASWOU President it is to be put into full force and effect. The ASWOU President has five days after receiving a bill or resolution from the Senate to veto, sign, or do no action.

The members of the Judicial Board voted: 4 Yes, 0 No, 0 Abstaining: The ruling passes 4-0-0.

Based upon the interpretation of Article II, Section 16, the Judicial Board has ruled that no Senate member shall have two or more consecutive, unexcused absences. If a Senate member has two more consecutive, unexcused absences then they shall be removed from Senate.

The members of the Judicial Board voted: 4 Yes, 0 No, 0 Abstaining: The ruling passes 4-0-0.

Ruling 10/26/2009

This is to report the official 2009-2010 Judicial Board rulings, resulting for the October 26th, 2009 meeting. These rulings are based upon their interpretation of the constitution.

"This constitution may be amended by two-thirds vote of the valid votes cast in an election. For the purpose of amending this constitution a valid election requires valid votes cast by at least 15% of the ASWOU membership."

The members of the Judicial Board voted: 4 Yes, 0 No, 0 Abstaining: The ruling passes 4-0-0. The following is the ruling:

The Judicial Board retains the right to extend voting days, as deemed necessary, in order to reach the minimum required voting percentage of ASWOU membership.

The members of the Judicial Board voted: 4 Yes, 0 No, 0 Abstaining: The ruling passes 4-0-0. This means that the Judicial Board could extend the voting days of one election until the 15% is reached.

The Bills that will be voted upon either during a Winter term election or during the Spring General Election are as listed: 2.09, 3.09, 8.08, 6.09, 9.09.
