Welcome to the SUMMER!
The academic year is finally over today as many of you wrap up your finals and prepare to head home or have plans to stay and work and/or take summer courses. Whatever your plans are for this fantastic summer, ASWOU urges you to be safe but don't forget to have some fun! If you are graduating, congratulations and good luck with your future. Don't forget to check WOU out occasionally as we have many exciting projects happening that you won't want to miss!
It has been a pleasure serving each and every one of you as your student government. Please be sure to check us out over the summer and next year as, much like our beautiful campus, we have many plans in the works to better your time at WOU. To quote a popular high school saying, "HAGS (Have a GREAT Summer)!"
You requested and we are delivering...
The summer may be here but that doesn't mean that ASWOU takes a break from serving the students and runs off to vacation. With this summer you will see many new projects sprout up not only within the ASWOU offices but also on this very website.
First, newly elected and now sworn ASWOU President Yasmin Ibarra will be in the office off an on over the summer working for your best interests as well as developing a team that will help her in the coming academic year. With the help of Megan Rasmussen (Vice President), Raeann Salchenberg (SAB Director), Daniel Trujillo (Senate President), and Justin Walker (Judicial Administrator), you'll see ASWOU transform right in front of your eyes!
As for the website, ASWOU has some big plans. The three biggest things you'll see are the following:
- New ASWOU employment/volunteer application - July 2010
- NEW Student Concern Report system - August 2010
- ONLINE student organization RE-CHARTERING - September 2010
The dates associated with each are subject to change but be sure to check back often and see what we've cooked up next!

Welcome to ASWOU!
ASWOU is an organization designed to encompass all of the students at Western Oregon University (WOU). The student government is tasked with advocating for students' rights to the WOU administration as well as the state of Oregon.
Structured like the federal government, ASWOU consists of three branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The executive branch consists of the President and Vice President as well as the cabinet staff structured to assist students from all around campus. The legislative branch is the Senate body credited with being the biggest and most diverse group of representatives. The judical branch is responsible for interpreting the ASWOU constitution and running the elections held annually.
Through this website you should be able to find everything that you'll need. Access to all of the ASWOU departments, information about Senate and Judical Board, and so much more. If at any time you have any questions, please contact our Director of Public Relations at aspr@wou.edu. Thanks for visiting and happy cruising!
