The Western Oregon University Safe Zone program builds a culture of continual learning that focuses on the lives, experiences, and intersections of LGBTQ2SIA+ identities.
We strive to create ongoing training and educational opportunities, improve campus outreach efforts, and provide inclusive spaces for all students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Safe Zone facilitates training sessions on LGBTQ2SIA+ inclusivity. Our trainings are broken up into 3 different sessions. The first one is the Red training, which focuses on pronouns, terminology, and resources, the second is the Yellow training, which focuses on the binary and intersectionality, and the last one is the Blue training which focuses on microaggressions, power, and privilege. Safe Zone also hosts events for everyone that center and celebrate the LGBTQ2SIA+ community.
We invite anyone interested in engaging in this work or having a training for their area to contact us at safezone@wou.edu.
