OHSU Nursing Program to visit WOU
SEP and Service Learning and Career Development are co-sponsoring a visit from the OHSU Nursing school. If you are interested in hearing about what the OHSU Nursing program is looking for in prospective students and what it is like to actually be a nursing student and nurse, you won’t want to miss this opportunity. Take an hour out of your day on Tuesday, February 26th, from 3:30 – 4:30, to meet with an OHSU representative at the WUC in the Santiam room.
Only 1 week left to turn in your Summer Bridge Peer Advisor applications
There is only one week until Summer Bridge Peer Advisor applications are due. If you are interested in spending a week living on campus with 30 incoming freshmen and making their experience with Western a positive one, this is your opportunity. Peer Advisors help to “bridge the gap” between high school and college. Summer Bridge will be held the week prior to New Student Week, September 14-20, 2008. If you are interested in applying or have questions, please stop by the SEP office. Applications must be turned in by Friday, February 29th.
The Mystery of Edwin Drood
If you are interested in attending ‘The Mystery of Edwin Drood’, stop by the SEP office to get your name on the list…there are a lot of different days to choose from. Don’t miss this! It is sure to be a great production.
The Mystery of Edwin Drood, is a musical based on Charles Dickens' unfinished novel. The show tells the story of the upstanding young Edwin Drood who mysteriously disappears and is presumably murdered. But who did it? Was it his drug-addicted, romantic rival John Jasper? The infamous Princess Puffer? Reverend Mr. Crisparkle? Helena or Neville Landless, immigrants from Ceylon? Someone else?
In the end, the audience gets to decide
Grant Aid Applications
Are you a first or second year student? Do you receive a Pell Grant? Do you take advantage of the services that SEP offers? If so, you are eligible for SEP Grant Aid. Each year, SEP offers grants to its first or second year participants, who are receiving a Pell Grant, to help offset loans or to help with unmet need. If you are interested in free money, stop by the SEP office to pick up an application. Deadline is April 11th.
Scholarships for Latino students
A list of over 300 scholarships for Hispanic students is available through Latino College Dollars. The scholarships can be searched and downloaded free of charge at www.latinocollegedollars.org. The website will search for scholarships that you may qualify for based on grade in school, GPA and residency.
Are you looking for an apartment close to campus?
Tara Halligan is looking for someone to take over her apartment lease. The lease is until June/July, but can be extended. The apartment is less than one block from campus - across from the Arnold Arms building. It is a 2bdrm/ 2 bathwith equal sized bedrooms. Rooms are 18X12 and both have walk-in closets. National Survey on Student Engagement
WOU students are receiving an email from NSSE (National Survey on Student Engagement). The survey is used to gage student involvement on campus and their level of satisfaction with services. We encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your thoughts.
