The Math Center offers free drop-in math tutoring in the library, room 228. Hours are Mon-Thurs 1-7pm, and are always posted on the library homepage under Tutoring Hours. Tutoring is offered for a limited number of classes. To learn more, visit the Math Center’s webpage at wou.edu/math/tutor.
The library has a brand new walk-up scanner! It is located in the Copy Center on the first floor. It allows for immediate scanning (no log-in necessary) to PDF (including word-searchable PDF), JPG, PNG, rich text, and …audio file! Yes, it will take text and convert it to a computer-read mp3 file.
You can then output the scanned documents to:
- an email address
- Google Drive (Google Docs)
- a USB drive
- a QR Code to scan with your smartphone or tablet
All functions are accessed through a user-friendly touchscreen. The scanner also has these user-friendly features:
- Face-up scanning
- Oversized scanning, up to 17” x 24”
- Adjustable platform, lays flat or cradles a book
- SmartDock, for direct, wireless transfer to smartphone or tablet

While there is not a color photocopier in the library, you can get a color copy by using one of the several scanners we have. Use the KIC
or Epson flatbed scanners to capture the image, and make any adjustments to the image you want, including size, before saving it. Then sent it to one of the color print queues (such as HLColorWest). Voilá
If you really do need a color photocopier, there is one in the WOU Print Shop, ITC 112.

Students have 225 pre-paid print credits attached to their network accounts each term that they are enrolled at WOU.
A single page (one side) of a black & white printout costs 1 credit. A single color printout costs 5 credits.
You can check your print credit balance. If you need to purchase additional credits, do so through WolfWeb under the Student Menu. Credits are immediately available for use.
Whatever credits you don’t use roll over to the next term–so if you have 83 remaining after Fall term, you’ll have 308 when Winter term begins. However, accounts are wiped clean before Fall terms, and everyone starts again with 225.
Printing professors’ slides for study purposes can quickly diminish print credit balance, make bi
nders unwieldy and backpacks heavy, and waste the gifts from our arboreal friends. But if you are not ready to study from the slides in their digital form, you can print several on a single page and reduce your paper consumption considerably.
The key to do this is that you must have the file in PowerPoint (extensions are .ppt and .pptx). The Print window in this program allows you to change from printing Slides to Handouts (see red arrow), and then to indicate how many Slides per page (see green box).
If the professor has saved the slide set to another format, try getting the same results by printing multiple Pages per Sheet. This is a printer setting, however. We talk about it in the Save paper by printing double-sided post. You can also request the professor makes the slides available in the original file format.
You can access your H, P, and K drives as well as specialized programs such as Photoshop, Geometer’s Sketchpad, Dreamweaver, and more from off campus!
Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Remote Desktop Connection.
If you are using Windows XP, you may need to go into Communications within Accessories to locate the program. Once the program has started, use the steps for everyone (below) to connect to WOU’s terminal servers.
You may need to download the free Remote Desktop Connection software from Mactopia
(the download link is at the bottom of that page). Once it is installed, locate Remote Desktop Connection in the
Applications Folder and double click on it. Once the program has started, use the steps for everyone (below) to connect to WOU’s terminal servers.
- In the Remote Desktop Connection window, in the “Computer:” field, type:
- Click Connect. You may get a message asking if you trust
the connection. That is normal, go ahead and click on Connect.
- In the Log On to Windows box, type in your paw print user name and
password and change the domain to MASH. Then click
- When you are done, end your session by clicking on Start then Shut Down
in your Remote Desktop Connection window.
- In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, select Log Off, and then click OK.

To do this on most campus printers:
1. Select File –> Print
from your document
2. Choose the printer (e.g., \\krusty\Lab-HLRef
3. Click the Properties
4. On the Paper/Output
tab, find in the 2-Sided Printing dropdown menu and select “2-sided print.
5. Click the OK
buttons for the two windows.
Want to be even more efficient? Print 2, 4, or more pages per side on each sheet of paper!
Under Properties, go to the Layout/Watermark tab. Select the number of pages to appear on each side, and select Portrait or Landscape orientation.
Following these simple steps saves a massive amount of resources!
