    Provides information about more than 52,000 American artists.
  • Timeline of Art History
    A chronological, geographical, and thematic exploration of the history of art from around the world, as illustrated especially by the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection. The Museum's curatorial, conservation, and education staff research and write the Timeline, which is a valuable reference and research tool for students, educators, scholars, and anyone interested in the study of art history and related subjects. Covers prehistory to the present day.
  • Internet Public Library: Fine Arts
    Provides an extensive and well-organized listing of links to fine arts related Internet resources.

Grants and Foundations

  • National Endowment for the Arts (U.S.)
    The largest annual funder for arts programs in the United States. Site includes listings of other organizations that provide arts funding.
  • Artslynx Arts Funding list
    A handy list of sites that provide information about arts funding.
  • Oregon Arts Commission
    A division of the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department that seeks to foster the arts in Oregon and maintain their excellence. Nine commissioners, appointed by the governor, determine policies, establish long-range plans, and review applications to grants programs to determine funding levels.
  • Oregon Cultural Trust
    A statewide cultural plan to raise significant new funds to invest in Oregon's arts, humanities and heritage. Plans to distribute more than $90 million in grant funds throughout the state over the next decade.
  • The J. Paul Getty Trust
    Sponsors programs that focus on the visual arts in all of their dimensions, serving both general audiences and specialized professionals.

Organizations

  • ArtCentric
    Website for the Mid-Valley Arts Council, a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting the arts in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties.
  • Salem Art Association
    A nonprofit, cultural organization dedicated to art education, art appreciation and historic preservation in Salem, Oregon and the surrounding communities. Responsible for the operation of Bush House Museum, the Bush Barn Art Center, and the Marjorie T. Sherman Visual ARTS Center.

Located in the heart of Oregon’s lush Willamette Valley, Western Oregon University is the oldest institution in the Oregon University system with an award-winning campus that blends welcoming traditional features with multimedia classrooms, wireless web access and a state-of-the-art library. WOU is home to the nationally-renowned Teaching Research Institute, the Regional Resource Center on Deafness and the Rainbow Dance Theatre with approximately two-thirds of its students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the rest in the College of Education.
