ASSIGNMENT

The second paper is a brief figure study of a significant rhetorical theorist from the late 20th or early 21st century. Choose from this list of Contemporary Rhetorical Theorists, or you may propose your own. Limited research assistance will be provided in class and you are encouraged to use office hours for supplemental assistance. In this 4-6 page paper, provide the relevant background on the theorist, then discuss her/his approach to rhetoric in some detail, drawing connections to (and/or distinctions from) other periods, ideas, and theorists we have studied. Cite sources carefully and include a reference list at the end of the text. You will be asked to share your findings and discuss your rhetor in a class presentation. Presentations should include a photo or other image of your figure, quotations or summaries of her/his major ideas about rhetoric, and discussion of these ideas in relation to previous class discussions and readings.
