American Chemical Society (ACS) Journals Full text access to over 25 ACS journals.

 

Chemical Abstracts Restricted to WOU chemistry students with STN login. Covers the worldwide literature of chemistry and its applications. Be sure to type "z" in the Academic Port box.

 

Google Scholar (from the library)
Google Scholar is a subset of Google Web Search that enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including papers, theses, books, and reports. Google Scholar is strongest in science and technology, but has content in all disciplines.

 

Note--Using the Google Scholar link from the library (and not from a general Google Scholar Internet search) allows you direct access to articles we have available in our library. Just click FIND IT AT WOU.

If we don't have the article FIND IT AT WOU will allow you to make an Interlibrary Loan request. This is a free service and articles will be delivered to you in 3-4 days.

 

Sage Jouranls Online provides access to the content of more than 500 journals from 1999 to present.

 

Springerlink Provides online, full-text access to more than 500 journal titles. Subjects include: life sciences, chemical sciences, environmental sciences, geosciences, computer science, mathematics, medicine, physics & astronomy, engineering and economics.

 

Wiley Interscience Provides access (some full text) to journals, reference works, books, and databases published by Wiley. Covers business, chemistry, computer science, earth science, education, engineering, finance, law, life science, management, mathematics, medicine, physics, psychology, and statistics.

 

Medline
Contains more than 4 million citations for biomedical literature covering a broad range of medical topics relating to research, clinical practice, administration, policy issues, and health care services. Created and maintained by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. 1997 to present

Academic Search Premier
Academic Search Premier is a multi-disciplinary full text database containing full text for nearly 4,500 journals, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed titles. In addition to the full text, this database offers citations and abstracts for articles found in more than 8,000 publications. Allows users to limit searches to scholarly/peer-reviewed journals only. 1984 to present; selected articles from 1975 (or earlier) to present

Search chemistry resources

ChemIDplus povides access to structure and nomenclature information for the identification of chemical substances cited in NLM databases. The database contains over 379,000 chemical records, of which over 257,000 include chemical structures. ChemIDplus Lite is available for Name and RN searching without the need for plugins or applets.

 

eMolecules is a free chemistry search engine. By drawing the structure or typing the chemical name for a compound, you can search for information about the compound. eMolecules has the ability to search through over 6 million structures, including most vendor catalogs and public databases like Pubchem. You can search for chemical structures by systematic, standard, common and brand names

 

PubChem consists of three linked databases that contain the chemical structures of small organic molecules and information on their biological activities.

 

Google Patents

 

Toxline covers the biochemical, pharmacological, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals. It contains over 3 million citations, almost all with abstracts and/or index terms and CAS Registry Numbers.

To find the location and call number of books (as well as video, audio, microform, map and journal titles) owned by WOU, use the Library's online catalog.

 

For books and other materials not in Hamersly Library, use Summit, the catalog of more than 35 academic libraries in Oregon and Washington that have made agreements to lend materials to each others faculty, students, and staff. Summit Borrowing typically takes about 3 days for items to arrive at WOU. In addtion to the regional libraries, Summit brings together the holdings of thousands of libraries world-wide in a single searchable database. Once you locate the item you want in worldcat, you may request it using the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) button within that catalog. Books and other physical items requested via typically take 8-10 business days to arrive. Articles typically take 3-4 days.
