The Lutheran Fine Art Center has a dynamic collection of art that is housed at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Salem, Oregon. The Fine Art Committee has been collecting artwork since 1968 as a lending collection. The mission is to select art as an alternative avenue to reflective life in the spiritual realm. Many of the artists are local or from the northwest, while others are international.
The works in this exhibit were selected for their rich texture and
joyful colors. As a mixed media fiber artist, I am attracted to tactile
art. Two and three dimensional work represents possibilities in both
actual and visual textures.
Special recognition goes to Alice Kirk, curator of the Lutheran Fine Art Collection for bringing the collection to our attention and her assistance in selecting works for the exhibit.
