Connecting
Teaching to Learning for 150 years
January
- February - March - 2006
So
what makes for a great learning experience?
Well,
take a class of 25 undergraduate students, add the wisdom
and experience of 30 previous graduates (from Dorothy Livingston,
who graduated from Oregon Normal School in 1935, to Mary Wilson,
who graduated from Western Oregon University in 2004), mix
in the 150-year history of one of the finest educational institutions
in the country, and you have learning in the making.
In
an attempt to better understand the nature of education and
teaching, the students in Education 312: Schools, Teachers,
and Society, developed this exhibit. They are also responsible
for the educational time-line located on the second floor
of the Educational Building, and the oral project, located
on the third floor of the Library. This work represents the
sorts of experiences Western Oregon Unversity students have
come to expect at Western-- relevant, meaningful, learning.
It also represents the dedicated and enthusiatic students
who continue to attend this university and continue to carry
on the tradition of the founders who went before them.
