Early Alaskan Tourist Trade

This exhibit features tourist souvenirs from Alaska around the turn of the 20th century.

Trinkets and oddities from exotic locations were popular for home decor in this era.  Many Victorian homes had an 'Indian Corner.'  These artifacts from the Jensen Arctic Museum include Athapascan beadwork, Tlingit beadwork and Haida Carving.
