Troy, Madison Co. Illinois, Sep. 2, 1848

Dear Sir,

I have just rec'd a letter from Mr. John Talbot, in which he offers
to let your sons have the S.W. 36 11 , 2 W. for $300 - cash down.

This is better for them than their own offer -provided they can
procure the money at 6 per cent interest.

I have paid taxes on it from 1821 to 1847, inclusive, except for
1829, when I bid it off at tax sale and procured a tax title for
Mr. Talbot.

The deed from Patenter, was recorded in Pike Co. in 1822.

Would it be convenient for you to accept Mr. Talbot's offer, I
supose you will be able, at Ognowka or New Boston, to purchase a
draft on some safe merchant at St. Louis, Mo., and remit the same
to me.

Please inform me when convenient, whether Mr. Talbots' offer is
accepted or not.

Truly yours,

George Churchill
