[10/12/1835]

Peter Butler Esq.

Dear Sir

I send you a transcript against Patrick Watt in which I wish you to
put in operation or execution against him for which I will give you
the one fourth of what you make off of him. I supposed it is
hardly worth while for me to give any directions how you should
proceed, but perhaps it may be necessary for you to work some
cunning work with him, in fact do the best you can and I'll try &
be satisfied with it.

I also wish you to try to find out the situation of Wm. T. Bush's
affairs in that Country, as Wm Thompson and him owes me 16 or
$1700 and there appears to be no chance to get it of Thompson if
you can do anything for me in that respect I will liberally reward you
for your trouble and I have put the business into the hands of Joseph
R. Underwood therefore if you can make any discoveries you will be
so good as to write to him in Bowling Green and he will give you
direction accordingly. If you write to me direct to Natchitoches
Louisiana, and inform me where I shall direct to you

I am yours Respectfully

12th Oct. 1835
Olso Hendrick
