LANDERS HALL
CONSTRUCTION DATES: Landers Hall was built in 1970.
REMODEL: Landers Hall has not had any significant renovations or remodeling
projects as of 2005.
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY: Landers Hall was built by Forester Construction
Company of Salem.
COSTS: Landers Hall was built for $1.175 million.
ARCHITECTS AND BUILDING STYLE: The dormitory consists of seven building,
six for student living and one for the head resident and student lounges.
As with Barnum and Gentle Halls, Landers was designed by Payne and Settecase
of Salem.
CURRENT USES: Landers Hall is one of the university’s traditional
residence halls. Landers Hall consists of dorm room s located off of a
central corridor with common bathrooms at the ends of the hallways. Landers
Hall houses over 300 coeducational students in 55,925 square feet of living
space.
HISTORY: Landers Hall was built as a student residence hall.
OTHER INTERESTING FACTS: Landers Hall was named in honor of university
president Joseph S. Landers. Landers was university president from 1921
to 1932.
