Microfilm and microfiche can be scanned
using the Adobe Acrobat program. Network
printing, saving to a file (including
the PDF format), and emailing
are available.
Instructions are posted at these workstations.
This information is summarized below.
1. Scanner Preparation
 |
The Minolta MS2000 Scanner must be on before the computer is turned on
or rebooted.
If the scanning program reports an error, keep the scanner on and restart
the computer. |
A. Load your microfilm or fiche in the Minolta MS2000
scanner.
B. Locate the frame you want to scan and adjust the machine
for focus, zoom, etc.
2. Scanning your Image
A. Adobe Acrobat is the scanning program used at this
workstation.
B. After an image is displayed on the scanner, click
on Acrobat's File menu and select Import.
3. Output Options
| Once images are scanned, you may perform the following tasks
with Adobe Acrobat: |

| Print |
Click the File menu and select Print.
Printing defaults to a nearby
network printer. |

|
| Save |
Click the File menu and select Save As.
Locate the drive you want (floppy drive A or network drive H). Note:
Some files may be too large for a floppy disk.
PDF is the default file format. |

|
| Email |
Click the File menu and select Send Mail.
You will be prompted to first save to a file.
Then an email client window will open. Send the file to an email address.
Note: You can send your message to any email address, but some email
systems have limitations on attachment file size. |

4. Please turn off the Minolta Scanner when finished.
Use the desktop
icon to logout.
