Food consumption is allowed in the Alumni Association Student Lounge (Room 106).
It is not allowed in other public areas of the Hamersly Library.
Special events may include food in other designated areas with prior permission from library administration (503-838-8419). - Beverages are permitted throughout the building. We encourage the use of closed, unbreakable, spillproof travel mugs or pull-top plastic bottles and recommend keeping drinks away from the computers, especially the laptops.
Please, no glass containers. - Use of tobacco in any form is prohibited throughout the Hamersly Library.
Smoking areas are designated to the south of both outside entrances.
Rationale The Hamersly Library established its food, drink, and tobacco policy to aid in the preservation and care of library materials and electronic equipment, to maintain a pest-free building and damage-free furnishings, to reduce litter, and to ensure a clean environment for studying and working.
Cooperation Library staff will ask users to dispose of food or tobacco, to move to the Alumni Association Student Lounge or to one of the nearby food services, or to leave the library building. The staff appreciates everyone's cooperation with the Food and Drink Policy.
Food Services If you need refreshments, please visit the Alumni Association Student Lounge, where there are several vending machines and tables at which to study, eat, and relax. The Hamersly Library is also across the street from the Werner University Center, which has food services, and within walking distance to downtown Monmouth.
