Optional Practical Training (OPT)

How to apply for OPT:

  1. Complete the online form below

  2. Dowload USCIS Form I-765. Go to www.uscis.gov, click "Forms" in the upper-left, then scroll down to Form I-765. Print both the form and the instruction PDFs. You can complete the form when you meet an ISSA advisor.

  3. Meet with an ISSA advisor to finalize the application and to get a new I-20 with OPT authorization. Please bring the following items:

    • your pasport with I-94 card and visa

    • all I-20s you have received at WOU

    • two passport-style photos

    • a check or money order for $380 written out to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security"

    • any previous EAD cards you have received

ISSA advisors will ensure that all of your application paperwork is ready for submission to USCIS at the meeting. Set up your appointment with an advisor by calling ISSA at 503-838-8425. Thank you.
