Events & Fun
The Honors Program is not just about classroom participation and studying. There is ample room for creativity and socialization. Every year, as part of their required coursework in the program, honors students attend three plays at Ashland and an opera in either Portland or Seattle.
In future years we plan to add a class-related trip to the Oregon coast and/or Mt. Hood as well as a sophomore year community service project in the mid-Willamette valley. One of the great aspects of honors is the number of close friendships that can be built by having classes together and getting to plan and participate in the yearly activities.

Practicing and performing plays is
all part of the fun of participating in the freshman
theatre course.
So is the annual visit to Ashland!
The sophomore science classes occasionally take field trips to the wetlands, the coast, or other relevant places.
Finishing the thesis (and the public presentation) is a significant achievement --and a huge relief.
Graduation: what it's all about.
