Nicholas Graves

My experience in the RCE program at WOU was very rewarding.  I learned how to focus on consumers’ strengths and how to participate in a consumer-driven and culturally appropriate manner.  The RCE faculty are very passionate, professional, and informative.  I recommend this program to anyone who wants to work with persons with disabilities to help them reach their goals to improve their lives.

I would like to take a moment to say thank you for the wonderful training I received in the RCE program. I am truly enjoying my job, and have found that what was taught in the program is relevant to my everyday work as a VRC. I really appreciate the dedication the faculty and staff have to the field of VR counseling, and development of your students. My life has been changed because of this, and I can now pay it forward through my work. Something I could have never done without the faculty and staff at WOU.

The RCE faculty have been an enormous source of support to me.  I cherish their humane attitude of caring and respect toward the students.  I appreciate their vast knowledge and support of Deaf-related issues.  I have immensely enjoyed the small class size of the program; it allowed students to discuss and share experiences, enhancing our textbook learning and giving us an opportunity to learn from one another.

There’s always a time in one’s life, when a hero comes along. Somebody who inspires you and helps you learn what life is about. The Rehabilitation Counselor Education Program is my hero. Pursuing a Master’s degree in RCE has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My overall experience at Rehabilitation Counselor Education has been one of the best I have gone through.  I am so grateful for everything I learned from the RCE; it made me so capable. I now have an opportunity to help people with disabilities to become self-sufficient.

The RCE material is excellent, the practice counseling sessions are invaluable, and the instructors are knowledgeable, warm and caring.  You will learn how to help others help themselves, and you will learn more about yourself in ways that may be unexpected!

-Kathy Van Lo, MS
Rehabilitation Counselor
