1 – First Aid / CPR - Fee: $25
This American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid course teaches how to manage illness and injuries for adults and children in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. This class teaches CPR, AED use, relief of choking and use of barrier devices for all ages. NOTE: This workshop begins at 5:00pm, and participants must be on time to receive certification. This course will not count toward Oregon CE hours.
2 – Oregon Risk Prevention Curriculum Revision Showcase -Fee $20
The Oregon team has spent the past year working on a total overhaul of the student curriculum used throughout Oregon, Washington and a number of other states. The new curriculum is cutting edge - it features 3D animations, increased technology features for students and more interactive activities. During this workshop, the team will showcase some of the newest 2013 curriculum resources. Attendees will be able to examine and use classroom-ready Playbook pages, instructor media tools and activities. You'll also experience how this Multimodal Classroom Interface functions. If you have a smart phone or tablet, load it with a QR code reader app (they're free), and bring it with you so you can try out the QR code functions.
3 – The Paperless Option in BTW: Using a Tablet - Fee: $25
You can easily use a tablet for all of your BTW lesson record-keeping. Record your student's results and send an email to the student, the parent and place a copy in the cloud for your own records. If you have a tablet or smart phone bring it with you. We'll "bump" you copies of materials you can adapt and use to automate your program's Behind-the-Wheel records. You'll find it's easier to get parents more interested and involved in their students' progress when they receive emailed results. If you don't yet own a tablet or smart phone, consider pairing up with an instructor you know who does have one. Participants will receive step-by-step directions on setting up your own electronic BTW record-keeping system. Note: We will be raffling a few tablets to random attendees of this workshop for use in their own programs.
4 – Teaching Students with Physical and Developmental Disabilities - Fee: $25
This workshop will cover issues related to teaching Driver Education to students with various types of physical and developmental disabilities. Presenters will share activities to incorporate in your teaching and resources available to assist you.
