Course Descriptions

  Criminal Justice tuition for undergraduate courses is $160/credit, and $325/credit for graduate classes.
   
CS 195 Fundamentals of Web Design - Register Online 3 credits
 

Fundamentals of web design using Macro-media software. Focuses on the overall production processes surrounding Web design. Emphasizes design elements involving layout, navigation and interactivity. Includes hand-on web design exercises using Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks and FreeHand. Tuition $395 + $15 computer science fee

 
   
CSE 616 Designing & Teaching Online Courses - Register Online 3 credits
  This class will introduce students to the philosophy and methodology of designing online courses and teaching online. Topics will include establishing a community online, fostering meaningful dialogue, facilitating group work, designing effective learning experiences, and assessing student progress.  Students will learn skills for course construction in a variety of course formats, and will create a short course that uses tools within a course management system as well as resources available through the Web. No prerequisites. Tuition $849.  
   
CSE 624 Internet for Educators - Register Online 3 credits
  Course will relate to a number of topics/issues germane to the use of Internet technologies in schools/classrooms/media centers. Students will become knowledgeable about the practical, theoretical and philosophical implications of using the Internet in education. Tuition $849

EC 318 Money and Banking - Register Online 4 credits
  In-depth coverage of money, its forms, how it is created by banks and the Treasury, how its supply is regluated by the Federal Reserve System and its vital role in the functioning of the macroeconomy. Prerequisites: EC 201, 202, or consent of instructor. Tuition $510.  
   
EC 441 International Monetary Economics - Register Online 4 credits
  Examines the macroeconomic linkages between countries. Topics include: institutions of flexible and fixed exchange rates, the balance of payments, the choice of an exchange rate regime, international money markets, currency crises, international policy coordination, and international debt and direct investment. Prerequisites: EC 201, 202 or consent of instructor. Tuition $510.  
   
ED 611 Theories of Teaching and Learning - Register Online 3 credits
  Applies key concepts, models, and strategies related to different theories of learning, including behaviorist, cognitive and socio-cultural perspectives. Students will examine epistemological frameworks, issues of transfer, social and cultural influences, as well as motivation and engagement to design powerful learning experiences. Will also learn key concepts, models, and strategies related to language acquisition and to cognitive, social and emotional development. Tuition $849.  
   
ED 632 Cultural, Social, and Philosophical Issues in Education - Register Online 3 credits
  Examines issues of learning and culture from a variety of philosophical perspectives, linking practice to theory and ideology. Students will frame their teaching and learning experiences by examining the role of culture in schooling and learning, specifically addressing issues surrounding diversity, and critical perspectives in education.

GEOG 418/518 International Trade & Transportation - Register Online 4 credits
  Analysis of the origins, routes, destinations of the flows of major commodities, goods, services, and people across national boundaries. Global perspective will include theories and case studies of contemporary and evolutionary patterns. Tuition UG $490 and $1,138 Graduate.  
   
HE 250 Personal Health - Register Online 3 credits
  Basic scientific knowledge for healthful living; relation of health of individuals to family and community welfare and to national vitality and progress; fundamental factors involved in intelligent living. Tuition $395.  
   
LIB 686 Emerging Information Technology - Register Online 3 credits
  A study of current and emerging information systems from a philosophical and practical perspective. The origins, storage, transmission and retrieval of information will be explored, as well as the technologies which assist these activities. Tuition $849.  
   
PE 131 Individual Health and Fitness - Register Online 2 credits
  Explore the different dimensions of health and take a personal look at your own health through each dimension. Complete a variety of assessments including some physical test to evaluate your own fitness level and current health status. Tuition $280.
