Work Sample Methodology (TWSM) is a validated methodology focusing
on performance-based evidence for preservice and inservice teachers
that connects to K-12 student learning. Teacher work samples
can provide not only a pedagogical vehicle for assisting preservice
students in connecting teaching and learning, but also an assessment
tool for evaluating their proficiency in doing so. In addition,
advanced or extended teacher work samples can be used for documenting
inservice teachers’ proficiency in connecting teaching
and learning
Creating an evidence-based teacher preparation program requires
attending to a variety of components that include moving students
through the system, resources and personnel concerns, data
management and using the data for continuous program improvement.
