WOU is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.

The Fall 2017 Ad Hoc report (below) was a requirement from NWCCU, as detailed in its July 2016 response to the Year Seven Report.

Earlier documents related to NWCCU accreditation are available upon written request to the Office of Academic Affairs, at provost@wou.edu.
In addition to institutional accreditation by the NWCCU, WOU's educator preparation programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). In May 2016, CAEP approved continued accreditation for these programs, with the next accreditation visit scheduled for Fall 2021.
