First Year Experience

Symposium

 

The final project for all FYE classes is an opportunity for the students to share the experience they have had in their course with the students enrolled in other themes. This event is called the FYE Symposium and is held as an evening event that draws attendees from a variety of departments on campus. This event allows students to socialize with peers, eat some great food and meet the campus administration (i.e. the Deans, the President, the Provost). 

 

Some projects from last year include:

• A personal piece of writing (Writer’s Way theme)
• A community service project (Service Learning theme)
• A summary of assignments over the course of the term (Digital Media theme)
• A health campaign about a topic relevant to WOU students (Health and Wellness theme)
• A creative piece of work showcasing lessons learned during their first term (First Year Experience theme)
