Education Advising

Beginning September 1st, 2013 the College of Education will begin advising ALL education students. The Academic Advising and Learning Center will no longer advise education students. For undergraduate education advising contact Andrea Carano: For graduate education advising, contact Bill Hamlin

Academic Advising and the Phase Requirements:

Western Oregon University offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Education (For graduate advising, please visit For a better understanding of the requirements of an Education student, the College of Education has broken the timeline of a typical undergraduate education major into 3 segments;

  • Phase 1
    (Phase 1 is advised by the Academic Advising and Learning Center. Note: Middle/High Majors receiving advising from the department which they are majoring in.) - After the completion of Phase 1, the AALC will complete a file review with the student and transfer them over to Phase 2.
  • Phase 2
    (Phase 2 is advised by the Division of Teacher Education faculty adviser.)
  • Phase 3
    (Phase 3 begins after ACCEPTANCE into the licensure program.)
