MONMOUTH – Western Oregon University resident undergraduate students will be paying less than their counterparts at Oregon’s other public universities for the coming year. With an average increase of three percent, WOU has not increased tuition for Oregon students taking 12 or fewer credits. This marks the third consecutive year for tuition at that level. Thirty percent of WOU resident students will experience no increase.

The modest tuition increases, ranging from $63 to $189 per year, occur for resident undergraduate students taking 13 through 18 credits.

According to WOU president Philip W. Conn, “we are really pleased to maintain both affordability and accessibility for Oregon ’s students in line with the governor’s priorities. Our three percent average increase is consistent with the legislative cap for the university system.”

The legislature has funded the gap between three percent and WOU’s original tuition request of seven percent for the biennium.

As to fees, WOU does not charge programmatic resource fees, and reports a total yearly increase of $30 for all fees. The technology fee has increased from $210 to $216; and the incidental fee, set by students, has risen from $492 to $516 per year. The building fee, set by the state, and student health service fees are unchanged.
