WOU students will provide an evening of musical entertainment in an upcoming holiday concert

MONMOUTH – Western Oregon University students will perform the holiday concert “Make We Merry: An English Holiday Celebration,” on Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rice Auditorium.

Directed by music professor Solveig Holmquist, Ph.D., the WOU Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Brass Ensemble and String Ensemble, accompanied by piano and percussion will present festive entertainment of England’s finest music for the holiday season.

The Concert Choir, under the direction of Holmquist has between 120 and 140 strong voices that perform a wide variety of music. Concert Choir performs works from all historic periods and regions of the world. Additionally, they present masterworks with orchestras featuring student soloists. 

The highly selected group of 24 to 28 students comprises WOU Chamber Singers choir. Performing pieces selected from Renaissance madrigals and Bach, they are in high demand throughout the region.

General admission tickets are $8, students and senior tickets are $5 and WOU students are free with student identification card. This event is a music scholarship benefit concert.
