MONMOUTH – Western Oregon University has added Neng Chiang Yang to its team as director of international students and scholars affairs, to increase the admission of international students.
Yang will work directly with Michele Price with the study abroad program within the new international office, and will report to Jem Spectar, WOU’s provost. Spectar has worked diligently to increase both interest from international students as well global understanding among WOU students.
The increased focus on global participation is a necessity to properly prepare WOU students for a career in the 21st Century. Yang will work directly with potential international students to prepare them for a career at WOU, as well as communicate the needs of international students to the rest of campus.
"Iam thrilled that Mr. Yang,an international student recruiter with a strongcommitment to global education,has joined WOU,” said Jem Spectar, WOU provost.“He is already implementing plans to significantlyincrease the number of internationalstudents and visiting scholars at Western, thereby furthering our goal ofcampus internationalization."
Yang has worked in the area of international student admissions and programs since 1997, serving Ohio University, Huntingdon College and Morehead State University. He also co-founded the art department at Huaibei Teachers College in Huaibei, China.
Yang is pursuing a doctorate in instructional technology from Ohio University and holds a master’s of fine arts from Indiana State University.
