MONMOUTH – Cycle Oregon rides to the Western Oregon University campus for the 2009 Weekend Ride from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19. The sold-out event has 1,900 cyclists registered and 1,000 of them will stay in WOU’s residence halls with the remainder camping on campus. The campus will be used as a hub for the weekend-long event.
“We are thrilled to be hosting Cycle Oregon again, having hosted them in 2005 for an overnight event. To have them visit our campus and stay for the entire weekend is an honor. They are a wonderful organization to work with from planning to implementation of this event. We look forward to a very active weekend,” said Dean of Students Tina Fuchs.
Loop rides will happen each day with three options: short (17-25 miles), medium (41-46 miles) or long (57-65 miles). A map of the route can be found online at http://www.cycleoregon.com/weekend-ride/routes/. Cyclists will be treated to hearty food, hot showers, massage, cold microbrew, Oregon wine and live entertainment. A kids’ bike camp will also be open and each route will have course support.
