MONMOUTH –Nominations are open for the annual Mario & Alma Pastega Award for Excellence in Teaching. This award is intended to provide recognition for faculty accomplishments in teaching, honoring work that engages and inspires students and increases their knowledge and interest in the profession, discipline or field. Nominations can be made by students, faculty or staff, and are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 12, to the Provost's Office, room 202E of the Administration Building.
Tenure track (assistant professor) and tenured (associate and full professor) are eligible for nomination. Previous recipients of the award are not eligible, and nominees must have taught for at least three consecutive years at the time of their nomination.
Recipients are chosen by a selection committee of four faculty members, two stduents, a representative from the Center for Teaching and Learning, and a representative from the Provost's Office. The committee meets to review the portfolio's of nominees and recommends a finalist to the President
The recipient of the Mario and Alma Pastega Award for Excellence in Teaching will be honored at a public event in May, along with the recipient of the Pastega Award for Excellence in Scholarship, at the faculty and staff awards ceremony, and as part of the Commencement activities on June 12, 2010.
