The giant sequoia is one of the most massive trees in the world as well as one of the tallest. It has been known to reach heights of 300' with a 29' trunk diameter. Equally impressive is its lifespan.
The oldest known Giant Sequoia based on ring count is 3,200 years old!
Our tallest sequoia tree is well known throughout the Willamette Valley for it's annual tree lighting in early December.

The 'big tree in lights' is on the northeast corner of Campbell Hall; others are located at the NW corner of the Oregon Military Academy; between Rice Auditorium and the modular classrooms; near the Student Health Center, the Werner University Center, Sequoia Commons, and New Physical Education.
