Paperbark birch trunk
This deciduous tree can grow 40-50 feet, but it will be several years before lateral branches show their characteristic chalky-white paper-like bark.
Large native range from Labrador to British Columbia; from Washington (and into the Wallowa Mountains of northeastern Oregon) to Pennsylvania.
