Dr. Dantas-Whitney is conducting an ethnographic research study with a group of bilingual children currently attending first/second grade at Henry Hill Elementary School, in collaboration with their teacher, Shannon Gabriel. The study seeks to document effective practices in bilingual education that lead to academic success. Its purpose is to provide models of successful teaching approaches for current and future teachers of bilingual children. This is a multi-year project, reaching 20-25 children per year. Approximately two WOU student-teachers per year also participate.
