The WOU Foundation accepts gifts for any approved program or activity at Western Oregon University.
Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is the reoccuring, unrestricted financial support given each fiscal year (July 1-June 30) and is the cornerstone of all fundraising programs at WOU.
Support from WOU alumni, parents and friends benefit current students in continuing to reach their educational goals. It is a benchmark of the involvement of our alumni with their alma mater for funding decisions made by foundations and corporations.
The Annual Fund remains Western Oregon University Foundation's first giving priority, helping to cover the difference between tuition and the actual cost of a WOU education. Hundreds of faculty, staff, alumni, family members, friends, and trustees contribute to the Annual Fund every year, directly impacting the school's operating budget. Your participation encourages others to give, helps the school get foundation grants, and sends a message to the community that Western Oregon University does make a difference. Gifts to the Annual Fund help provide scholarships, necessary classroom and curruiculum enhancements, professional development opportunities for students and faculty, and upgrades in technology and associated equipment.
Outright Gifts
The most common gifts received by the WOU Foundation are outright gifts. Most frequently these gifts are cash, but the foundation also welcomes gifts of securities, real property, and personal property.
Planned gifts
Planned gifts including deferred gifts, are arranged during the donor's lifetime, but the principal does not accrue to benefit WOU until later, usually after the donor or named beneficiaries are deceased. Bequests are the most common deferred gifts; others include life insurance policies and life income agreements (gift annuities, unitrusts, annuity trusts, lead trusts, and revocable trusts).

Many companies offer matching gift programs to their employees, employee spouses, or retired employees. Contact the personnel office in your company or call WOU's Office of University Advancement at 503-838-8281 to discover if this program is available to you.
Make Out Your Checks To The WOU Foundation
When you make a charitable contribution to Western Oregon University, make out your check to the WOU Foundation. If you wish to restrict your contribution to a particular school, department, program, or special area such as scholarships, faculty development, library, or athletics, list that program on the memo line or in an accompanying letter.

The Western Oregon University Development Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. It operates on the WOU campus and with university support under the auspices of a 1990 agreement between the foundation, the university, and the Oregon University System. It is managed by a 24-member board of directors composed of members-at-large and representatives from ancillary fund-raising and campus groups.
