2008 Senior Class Gift

afon

The 2008 Senior Class Gift, sponsored by the Student Alumni Pack, was a tremendous success.  President John Minahan and Former Vice President of University Advancement, Paul Moredock, jointly matched students’ donations up to $1,000.  In order to take advantage of the match, 40 students needed to donate $25 each.

The match was exceeded with 53 seniors donating to the 2008 Senior Class Gift.  Three non-seniors and six faculty and staff members also donated, in honor of a special senior.  So far, the total amount of funds raised, including the match, was $2,582.  This gift will help fund scholarships, clubs, events, and programs to directly benefit the future students of WOU.

Perhaps you remember WOU’s infamous Giant Sequoia and the annual holiday tree-lighting ceremony that involves the entire surrounding community.  Well, that giant sequoia was planted 121 years ago in recognition of the Senior Class Gift of 1887.  In appreciation of the 2008 Senior Class Gift, a new giant sequoia was planted, and it is hoped that, in time, this tree will grow to be a similar campus icon. Find out more about the 2008 Senior Class Gift.
