Mission
Humanities majors and minors explore that unique human creation, language—not only for communication but also in culture, literary art, and philosophical and religious thought.
Learning Outcomes
- Acquire knowledge based on a combination of interests and goals not available in a single department.
- Develop the creativity, critical thinking, written, and oral skills necessary to maximize individual and professional development.
- Make connections across disciplines and cultures.
Courses in two or more of the following fields: English, French, German, linguistics, Spanish, philosophy and religious studies, speech communication, or writing. The emphasis in the major is determined with the help of an adviser. Possible emphases include communications, modern languages, and philosophy/religion/mythology.
