The "Deaf Mentor Video Series" features
professionals who are deaf or hard of hearing discussing their career development
and experiences in the workplace. By viewing the video series, students
will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of the career world
as well as job requirements, and the challenges and rewards of different
fields.
The series consists of five videotapes: education, social and behavior sciences, arts and entertainment, science and technical fields, and business.
Videos are appropriate for students in high school or college, and work well in a career library or as a teaching tool. Each video is divided into 5 chapters covering the career planning process:

We Need YOU!
We have a common goal: to help students
who are deaf and hard-of-hearing to establish and reach their goals in
career world. We are looking for deaf and hard-of-hearing professionals
who are willing to donate their time to help students understand the process
of developing their career paths by discussing their accomplishments and
experiences in the employment arena. This can occur in two ways:
Increasing Career Choices for Individuals
who are Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (ICC) is a three-year federal grant from
the Rehabilitation Services Administration that focuses on expanding the
career knowledge of college students who are deaf and hard of hearing.
ICC is located at National Center on Deafness at Cal State Northridge and
provides a variety of services such as career counseling, job placement,
student workshops and employer training.
