Ike Nail has won two Grammy Awards, including the 2000 National Grammy Signature School Award recognizing the most outstanding secondary music program in America. His distinguished career as an orchestra and band conductor, teacher and music director has included: Resident Conductor – Dallas (TX) Wind Symphony; Wind Ensemble Director – California State University (Northridge); Coordinator of Instrumental Music and Director of Bands – University of Southern Mississippi; Band and Symphony Director – Sprague, West (Salem, OR) and Lee (Midland, TX) High Schools; and Orchestra Director – Richardson (TX) High School. His school bands and orchestras have won more than a dozen state championships in Oregon and Texas and performed at National Association for Music Education conventions, College Band Directors National Association national conventions, the Mid-West International Clinic, the National Concert Band Festival, Oregon Music Educators Association conventions and, by invitation, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
Dr. Nail is recipient of the National Band Association Award of Merit, a Past President of the Oregon Band Directors Association, and permanent member of the Oregon Band and Orchestra Adjudication Committee. He was named 2009 Music Educator of the Year by the Oregon Symphony Association in Salem and 2014 Music Educator of the Year by the Oregon Music Educators Association. He has conducted All State and Honor Bands and Orchestras in more than a dozen states and is an active adjudicator and clinician. He is also conductor of the Salem Pops Orchestra.
