# Student Workers

**Are you a WOU student interested in being a student worker for the WOU Mathematics Department**?

## ► Paper Graders

- The Mathematics Department frequently hires student workers to help with grading papers fall, winter and spring terms.
- Grades of at least a B in your mathematics courses are required.
- You must have taken mathematics course beyond the course you wish to grade for to qualify as a grader. Please ask at the Mathematics Department if you are not sure.

## ► Math Center Tutors

- The Mathematics Department hires student workers each term to tutor math in the Math Center. The Math Center tutors tutor 100 and 200 level math courses.
- Grades of at least a B in your mathematics courses are required.
- You must have taken mathematics course beyond most of the courses we tutor to qualify as a tutor. Please ask at the Mathematics Department if you are not sure.

## ► Math Office Workers

- The Mathematics Department hires student workers each term to help in the Mathematics Office.
- Work study is strongly preferred, mathematics background not required.
- If you are interested, please directly check in with the Mathematics Department. The student worker application is only for mathematics graders and tutors.

## ► Application Process

- You must be a WOU student to work for the WOU Mathematics Department as a grader or as a tutor.
- If you are interested in working as a Mathematics Department Student Worker (grader or tutor), please fill out the online math grader/tutor student worker application form:
- Here are the list of questions on the application form. You will need your answers in advance of completing the form.

- WOU V#
- Phone number
- WOU major
- WOU minor (if you have one)
- Year in school
- Expected graduation term
- College Mathematics GPA (include dual credit)
- Overall College GPA
- Do you have workstudy? (yes or no)

**Math information**- Math courses and grades (MTH 105 – MTH 366)
- Math ed courses and grades (MTH 211 – 495/595)

**Background**- Briefly describe your reason for wanting to become a paper grader and/or a tutor. Please specify which.
- Describe your past experience(s) grading papers and/or tutoring.

**References (at least one)**- WOU math professor
- Please provide contact information (name and email) for a recent non-WOU mathematics instructor that can provide a reference for you (required only if no WOU Math professor listed in previous question)

- Math student workers are paid using the standard, on campus, student wage rate.
