Scholarship, collaboration, and creativity about the cultural representation of the Western U.S. and Canada

About

Visualizing the West is designed to be a starting point for the work of scholars, artists, and writers interested in the cultural representation of the Canadian and U.S. Wests. It links to reference materials, showcases original work, and provides opportunities for sharing and collaboration between interested parties and individuals.

The site was created and is maintained by Shaun Huston, associate professor in the Department of Geography and Program in Film Studies at Western Oregon University. Site development was supported by travel and research made possible by Research/Major Projects Grants from the Faculty Development Committee at WOU. The 2004 International Canadian Studies Institute was also instrumental to the conception and development of this site. Anne-Marie Deitering provided technical design assistance. Visualizing the West is hosted by Western Oregon University. The Wiki Reference is hosted by wetpaint. Frontier/Hinterland/Home is hosted by TypePad.

Canadian Studies at Western Oregon University has been supported by a Program Enhancement Grant from the Government of Canada/gouvernement du Canada.
