Spring Field Training Exercise
The Spring FTX took place at Biak Training Facility in Eastern Oregon from 6-8 May. The MS III's conducted patrolling and tactical missions in preparation for the Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord this summer. The MSI/IIs honed their skills on land navigation, weapons familiarization on the M16A2 rifle, urban operations and convoy familiarization techniques.
Rappel Training
The cadets recently conducted rappel training where they were trained on tying a Swiss Seat, properly use of their break and guide hands and then conduct a rappel from a 35' tower.
School year coming to a close
The school year is drawing to a close with lots of work still to be done. Cadets will take their final Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) for the year on 1 June. MS III cadets prepare for their trip to LDAC. MS IV cadets are making final preparations for graduation to achieve their goal of becoming 2LT's in the Army.
APFT High Score
It appeared as though CDT Cole Edgley had a strangle hold on the APFT high score award for the year with a score of 341. However, CDT Kaleb Scott surpassed this by the smallest of margins by earning a score of 342.
Freshmen orientation for Fall 2011
Freshman orientation week takes place the week of 19 - 23 September 2011. This covers introduction and orientation to ROTC, qualifications, uniform issue, and administration.

Cadets Edgley and Snyder successfully complete Airborne school! Cadet Edgley and Cadet Snyder
Western Oregon Army ROTC sent two of its brightest to hot and humid Fort Benning, Georgia to complete airborne school during the summer. Both successfully completed the course during summer 2010 and are now airborne qualified.
