Military Science minor (29 credits)
Military Science Mission:
To teach leadership and military skills in the classroom, lab and field environment to all
students and to commission selected cadets as the future officer leadership of the U.S.
Army.
Learning Outcomes:
1. All students are prepared with the tools, training and experiences that will help
them succeed in any competitive environment.
2. First and second year students understand basic military skills and the fundamentals of leadership which lays the groundwork toward becoming an Army leader.
3. Third and fourth year students understand advanced military tactics and have experience in team organization, planning and decision-making which prepares them to become commissioned Officers in the U.S. Army.
(At least 18 of the 29 hours required in the
minor must be military science courses.)

Students interested in obtaining an officer’s commission may contact the Recruiting Operations Officer, CPT Harrington , from the Army ROTC
department. Classes may be taught at Western Oregon University or Oregon State University in Corvallis.
