Snowshoeing
One of the best examples of the extra-curricular activities that WOU ROTC students have the opportunity to take advantage of is snow-shoeing. In fact, these outings are probably one of the best opportunities any student could take advantage of if they have any interest in adventure and the outdoors. Led by Military Science instructors that have extensive survival training and experience, these trips to the mountains allow ROTC Cadets the opportunity to better learn the value of preparedness and resourcefulness. Furthermore, these trips provide the unparalleled potential to get a great work-out, and to do it in some of the most beautiful country Oregon has to offer. |

Trebuche
The extra curricular activities offered through the ARMY ROTC program are experiences that wouldn’t be offered anywhere else. The most effective example is the building of a medieval trebuchet, intended specifically for launching pumpkins. This event allowed Cadets the opportunity to gain experience in craftsmanship, in addition to working as a team, to build the most effective pumpkin launcher possible. The Military Science instructors were involved in establishing the building plans and always present to help Cadets with the building process. The end result was ROTC Cadets successfully building a trebuchet that was capable of launching pumpkins over 90 yards. |
