The type of intercultural issue I have encountered here is the difference in the pace of life here versus the pace of life in the US. Back home I am so used to a "schedule." I usually get at this time, do this at this time, etc., and go to bed at this time. Here, everything is much different and I have realized that there is really no sense of time or set schedules. Everything is at a slow and steady pace and if something doesn't get done during the day there will always be tomorrow. Back home I try and get things accomplished everyday - I don't like to put it off for tomorrow. Another thing I noticed and still have a hard time adjusting to is when people go to bed and get up. If I go to bed really late in the United States, I still get up at my same time everyday, whether if its at 6am or 9am. Here people don't get up until later and they sure go to bed and eat really late. I get up here everyday at 7:30am and my host mother thinks I'm crazy. Other than the pace of life and time, all has gone good.
